Spend Quality Time with Your Children Pursuing Their Passions

An attorney based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, previously with Simons and Spatz, PA, Mark Spatz dedicates much of his free time to promoting family engagement as a member of the board of directors of Golden Parents, Inc. In this role, Mark Spatz helps the nonprofit accomplish its mission of supporting the children of single parents and providing opportunities for bonding.

One of the key ways by which parents can bond with their children is through spending time doing what interests them. Children develop a wide range of different interests, from sports to video games. Parents can bond with their children by asking questions and experiencing these interests with their children. Most parents probably do not consider playing Minecraft a valuable use of time, but taking an hour to do that with a child can help tear down barriers and open up channels of communication.

Parents can encourage their children to pursue their interests in a variety of ways, from spearheading craft projects to going to a science museum to learn more about a particular topic.

It is just important to spend time with the family.
